Typhani Janelle Russo
Miss Russo is a two time Penn State University Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Integrative Arts with a minor in Dance as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She also has obtained a Master's Degree in Education from Saint Francis University. And, she is a certified personal trainer.
Typhani has been featured in several commercials, studied musical theatre in New York City and has appeared with the Broadway Artists Alliance in an off-Broadway showcase production at the New World Stages Theatre in NYC. She has also had the opportunity to audition for the Rockettes and dance at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City. She was a singer and featured dancer with the Sound of America European Performance Tour twice giving concerts in Austria, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, France and Switzerland. She has performed in some of the most famous concert halls, beautiful cathedrals and churches in Europe including Notre Dame Cathedral and has performed at Disneyland, Paris. She performed as a dancer in two Bowl Game Halftime Shows in Orlando, Florida. Has performed in productions of: Gypsy, Mamma Mia, The Little Mermaid, The Crucible, Widdershins, Raindance, Les Miserables, Oklahoma, The World Goes Round, Meet Me In St. Louis, Damn Yankees, Beauty and the Beast, Pippin, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Jesus Christ Superstar, Peter Pan, 42nd Street, Broadway Babies and played the role of "Sleeping Beauty" in her high school musical.
Typhani is a former instructor of the Blair Dance Academy in Altoona. She is a former dancer with Allied Motion Professional Dance Company, Penn State Dance Team and Urban Dance Troupe. She is a retired gold medal soloist from Blair Dance Company, former dance captain of Ivyside Pride Performance Ensemble, choreographed for Ivyside Dance Ensemble, Showstoppers and has taught for the Children's Dance Theatre at Penn State Altoona. She has also been a choreographer for the 2014 Sound of America European Performance Tour.
Typhani recorded her first CD at the age of 14 entitled "Reflections Of My Heart" with all profits being donated to the Aid for Animals, Laws for Paws organization. A second CD "Snowflakes Are Angel Kisses" was recorded shortly after that with all profits being donated again to that charity.
Typhani has held many pageant titles at local, state, regional, national and international levels: Ms. Pennsylvania U.S.A. Ambassador 2020, Lifetime SU Ambassador, Miss Supermodels Unlimited 2016, Ms Supermodel 2016, Miss Pennsylvania American Beauty 2015, National S.L.I.C.C. Ambassador for U.S.A. Ambassador Pageant 2014, America's Benevolent Miss 2013, Miss United State's World Tourism Ambassador 2012, America's U.S. Miss Pennsylvania 2010/2011, Miss Pennsylvania U.S. Beauties 2009, America's Perfect Hostess 2008/2009, Pennsylvania's Perfect Miss 2008, Miss Pennsylvania Heart Inspired and Beautiful 2008, Heavenly Angels National Beauty Queen 2007, East Coast USA National Ambassador 2007, Miss Pennsylvania East Coast USA 2007, Pennsylvania State American Coed 2007, Miss World Rose International Queen 2006/2007, America's Ideal Miss Pennsylvania 2006/2007, Miss Logan Valley International 2006 and Miss Dance Pittsburgh 1st Runnerup.
She is a print model for Supermodels Unlimited Magazine and has appeared on the cover of SU many times and featured within the magazine numerous times over the span of 16 years. She was recently named Woman of the Year by Supermodels Unlimited. Her photo has been featured on three Times Square billboards and she has been included in dozens of other print model magazines and calendars. She has had the opportunity to participate in many magazine photo shoots and was honored to travel to Rome, Italy, Hollywood, New York City, Atlantic City and Connecticut. She has walked the runway several times in New York City for New York Fashion Week and she cherishes her Award of Excellence that was presented to her during one of the those shows.
She has also done print modeling for other magazines and has appeared in Glady's Magazine, Tiara Magazine and was chosen as Miss November for the Savy Model "Girls Next Door" calendar for 2011 and she has been a five time finalist for Tiara Magazine's Cover Model Contests and was included in the October issue and their 2012 calendar.
Typhani is a member of the Women's Club of Altoona and is extensively involved throughout her community She is the founder of the "Bookworms Against Bullies" project, "Out Of The Darkness Of Cruelty And Into The Light Of Compassion" Campaign and the "Queenz for Kidz" Crusade as well as being the coordinator of local TNT Showcase Events, Beauty, Brains and Heart annual benefit fashion show, and has served on numerous fund raising committees for many charitable organizations.
She is the recipient of many awards including: The U.S. President's Lifetime Call To Service Award, U.S. President's Lifetime Call To Service Coin, U.S. Presidential Gold, Silver and Bronze Level "Volunteerism" Medals, U.S. Presidential Gold, Silver and Bronze Level "Volunteerism" pins, Governor's Citation, U.S. Senate Citation for volunteerism, 20 under 40 Award, Rising Star Award, Pageantry Magazine's Spirit Award, You Make A Difference Award, Volunteer Award from the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society and the United Way of Blair County, SU Magazine's Excellence Award.
